Prime Infrastructure 1.2 unable to backup wlc configs

Hello.

I have a Prime Infrastructure 1.2 with more than 20 WLC  configured, Everything looks good except for the fact that it does not back up any WLC configuration of the WLC.

When I verify at Administration > Background Tasks > Other Background Tasks > Controller Configuration Backup the result is Failure with the message

Controller Configuration Backup:

Device unreachable during ConfigBackup: <WLC-IP-address> MEDIATION-27

Has anyone seen this kind of error?

Thanks on advanced

Prime Infrastructure 1.2 unable to backup wlc configs

is snmp RW setup correctly?

have you tried refreshing the config from the controller to make sure what it has and what prime has is the same?

when you've met the criteria for the2 items above, you're usually covered...

Re: Prime Infrastructure 1.2 unable to backup wlc configs

Thanks for your reply

I forgot to mention that; YES, SNMP V2 credentials are Read/Write, we also deleted the WLC from the PI and rediscovered it configured with SNMP,Telnet and SSH V2. (no change)

We also observed that the WLC even when it shows to be reachable, is not configurable from the PI; any attempt of change on the WLC from the PI shows the same error," Device not reachable".

Re: Prime Infrastructure 1.2 unable to backup wlc configs

-Login to the cli of the Prime Infrastructure box

-Enter the command root to get access to the Linux shell that runs beneath the CARS shell

If you've never set a root password you will need to 1st enter root_enable to set the password

-See if you can snmpwalk the WLC from her

snmpwalk -v2c -c private xx.xx.xx.xx

In the example above private is the RW community string used

xx.xx.xx.xx is the WLC ip address

Are you able to snmpwalk the WLC?

Re: Prime Infrastructure 1.2 unable to backup wlc configs

Yes from root I can snmpwalk any WLC,

This is a partial of one output:

SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Cisco Controller

SNMPv2-MIB::sysObjectID.0 = OID: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.1.1069

DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (110773400) 12 days, 19:42:14.00

SNMPv2-MIB::sysContact.0 = STRING:

SNMPv2-MIB::sysName.0 = STRING: WLC_Corp-3

SNMPv2-MIB::sysLocation.0 = STRING: XXXXXXXXX

SNMPv2-MIB::sysServices.0 = INTEGER: 2

IF-MIB::ifNumber.0 = INTEGER: 9

IF-MIB::ifIndex.1 = INTEGER: 1

IF-MIB::ifIndex.2 = INTEGER: 2

IF-MIB::ifIndex.3 = INTEGER: 3

IF-MIB::ifIndex.4 = INTEGER: 4

IF-MIB::ifIndex.5 = INTEGER: 5

IF-MIB::ifIndex.6 = INTEGER: 6

IF-MIB::ifIndex.7 = INTEGER: 7

IF-MIB::ifIndex.8 = INTEGER: 8

IF-MIB::ifIndex.9 = INTEGER: 9

IF-MIB::ifDescr.1 = STRING: Unit: 0 Slot: 0 Port: 1 Gigabit - Level 0x6070001

IF-MIB::ifDescr.2 = STRING: Unit: 0 Slot: 0 Port: 2 Gigabit - Level 0x6070001

But the result is the same if we want to make any change from the PI to the WLC:

Re: Prime Infrastructure 1.2 unable to backup wlc configs

Have you tried removing a WLC from Prime Infrastructure then adding it back making 100% sure to add the correct SNMP R/W community string as well as the correct SSH login crentials?

Re: Prime Infrastructure 1.2 unable to backup wlc configs

what code is runnning on WLC ?

I had the same problem but I

I had the same problem but I've already solve it.

In the WLC->Management->SNMP Communities, in the Read-Wirte community, add the host address and mask or the network where lies your snmp requester ( in my case, it was a PI 2.2).

Kind regards,

Vasco

I had the same problem but I've already solve it too.

Make sure your snmp setting, then re-audit your WLC with step by step below

In the Prime Infrastructure : Operate > Device Work Center > Device Group > Device Type > Wireless Controller > <Your WLC Device> (see my attach : step 1) then continue to step 2 and 3.

After that, run Controller Configuration Backup again.
