Question about working of Access Point in Hot Standby mode.?

Any who can explain me how this thing works actually , i mean to say why we have to select

"Select "NO" for the Adopt Primary Port Identity option in the AP Radio row under Network Ports.

Actually i am setting this feature in my lab for the customer and i am able to set it up and its running fine i checked it but the problem i am facing is when my client associates to my STANDBY unit i can'nt ping my STANDBY AP but i can ping all of my network through the STANDBY AP.

Also why my ROOT AP show the STATUS= UnAuth

Re: Question about working of Access Point in Hot Standby mode.?

When using hot standby, the standby access point becomes a client device associated to the monitored access point. Try pinging the other device in the pair.
