Sudden high CPU utilization on Cisco AIR 1142

Five Cisco 1142 integrated in WDS infrastructure: 4 - AP, 1 - WDS with AP... At once on all access points loading of the processor increased to 100 %. And "show proc cpu" - in total in norm, log on all cisco identical below:

Re: Sudden high CPU utilization on Cisco AIR 1142

oops!

sorry. I did not recognize the K9w8!! autonomous APs should be K9w7.

I picked this from the IOS Software field of the AP download! but it seems all of the listed APs there are k9w8!! Strange!!!!

It seems I should stop right here because when I am writing something I wright something wrong! :-\

Sorry once again for not giving an answer to your concerns.

Sudden high CPU utilization on Cisco AIR 1142

Can you provide me the show tech from a sample AP

Re: Sudden high CPU utilization on Cisco AIR 1142

Look the attached files (today "show tech", when no problem with network. If problem start again, I will show the new "show tech")

Sudden high CPU utilization on Cisco AIR 1142

Have you made any changes lately to your network before the problem to appear?

Are all APs on same switch?

Having all APs with high CPU utilization I think there would probably be some kind of broadcast/multicast traffic that is overwhelming the APs.

Because WLCCP is a multicast protocol that would be related.

I sugges that you take a sniffer capture to monitor if there is high traffic reach the AP during the problem.

Wasn't any changes in a configuration (before & after problem).

Yes, all APs on same switch 2960S.

Bcast/Mcast on the Interface Gig0 AP? On switch 2960S following port configuration & statistic:

Re: Sudden high CPU utilization on Cisco AIR 1142

SPB-AP1-1 - this is WDS. Similar statistics on other access points

Re: Sudden high CPU utilization on Cisco AIR 1142

I am sorry. I have no explanation for that.

I am also not having a parralel scenario to compare.

Anyone that has WDS scenario running can help us to compare statistics.

Amjad, thank you that responded to my problem!

Re: Sudden high CPU utilization on Cisco AIR 1142

Anton:

Why don't you try to upgrade your IOS? just in case it is a buggy issue?

or upgrade is not an option for you?

I can see new image released on 1st of May: 12.4.23c-JA5(ED)

Sudden high CPU utilization on Cisco AIR 1142

If it is interesting to someone...

Most  likely from the general network where there are access points, there  was a lot of an unwanted entering broadcast traffic. I selected Wi-Fi in  a separate subnet and set up according to the recommendations specified  in http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk39/tk371/technologies_tech_note09186a0080093c91.shtml

Now problems aren't watched, CPU loading very low!

Sudden high CPU utilization on Cisco AIR 1142

Thanks Anton,

That is valuable information. I hope it will be useful for other people that have same issue.
