This is more of a curiousity question than anything. Is there a way to bypass ACS and authenticate wireless clients using AD? We run a WLC 4400 with version 4.2.207.0 and I was just wondering.

You could do this through LDAP

You could use IAS (Server 2003) / NPS (Server 2008) on the windows server to auth users. These are j the inbuilt radius services provided in the windows install natively.

I can't speak for WLC firmware 4.X but we've used 5.X and 6.X. We told the ACS to pass all authentication to the AD. No issues there.
