Can someone tell me how to make a good
backup of the database on the Cisco WCS, version 4.2.110.0 and then move the
backup file to my laptop. I am going to upgrade the RHLE and the WCS software.

1. Stop WCS:
/WCSROOT/bin/StopWCS
2.DB Backup
Under CLI:
/WCSROOT/Backup
3. Start WCS
/WCSROOT/bin/StartWCS
where WCSRoot is where you installed wcs for example /opt/WCS6.0.181.0

Thanks for the reply. How do I get the backup from the wcs to my laptop? I will be upgrading the wcs so everything will be blown away.

Just as you copy a file from a linux server to another computer: ftp, tftp, scp, which ever protocol you like.
