WCS Configuration Backup vs Sync

Hi

Can anyone explain the differences between the WCS background tasks Configuration Backup (which was v4 WCS) and Configuration Sync (WCS v5.1, 6, 7)? The documentation says that Sync 'polls' the configuration. I want to backup the wlcs configs on a regular basis to the WCS tftp server.

Backup is just that, a back up file of your WLC. Whereby allowing you to have a copy of your WLC for use to upload at anytime incase of a WLC failure.

Sync, matchs your WLC config settings to that of your WCS. If you changed a setting on your WLC for exmaple once WCS checks the WLC it will notice the difference and report its status as "mismatched". You can then perform an audit of the WLC within WCS. The audit will show what changed between what WCS knew about your config. You can then sync WCS and the WLC so they both know about each other.

Why is this imporant? One reason is if you use WCS to do config changes to the WLC. If they dont match WCS could report one thing when the WLC is actually configure another way ..

Does that make sense?
