WDS with more than 60 APs

Currently running a WLAN with around 75 APs. Due to problems with the 7920 Cisco VoIP phone, we decided to implement Fast Secure Roaming with CCKM. Now we are in need to find a WDS that is able to support 60+ APs.

Converting an AP to a WDS machine will give us support for max. 60 APs. That's not enough.

WLSM or using a big ISR router is not an option. Putting the APs in two subnets is not an option as well, 'cause roaming between all APs is a must.

Any hidden commands to break the 60 APs barrier? The number of WLAN clients is around 100 at max., not that much.

Juergen,

What is the evidence of a 60 AP limit? Is there a symptom correlated to this limit, or does the WLSE/WDS Master AP indicate the 61st AP will not be able to join in the WDS? I thought it was just an all-bets-off proposition after 30 APs.

Can you use secondary addressing on the router to support a second subnet?

Hi Juergen

i had the same issue. the solution is a wlsm or you could migrate to the controller solution there you also have layer 3 roaming.

or you use an old ios version where the limit of 60 aps where not hardcoded.

bc in newer ios version only 60 infastracture aps are working. the 61th didnt.
