WLC Supported Traps (w/OID)

I currently have a WLC 2006, but would like to know what kind of traps all of your WLC's support (specifically the Model 2006) by version.

Current firmware is v4.0.206.0

I can view the mib files, but it doesn't tell me which WLC and which version is supported.

You can see traps supported on controller itself. Go to the management tab and click on Trap controls under SNMP in the Left Hand side.

Re: WLC Supported Traps (w/OID)

Yes, I can see which traps are supported, but even if I specify to use SNMP v1, the actual incoming traps to the NMS are all v2.

See the attachment with transcripts below:

Telnet Packets 229, 3186 & 5351 specifically shows the following:

SNMP v1 Mode.... Enable

SNMP v2c Mode... Disable

SNMP v3 Mode.... Disable

Telnet Packet 571 specifically shows the following:

SNMP v1 Mode.... Enable

SNMP v2c Mode... Enable

SNMP v3 Mode.... Disable

Telnet Packet 1591 specifically shows the following:

SNMP v1 Mode.... Disable

SNMP v2c Mode... Disable

SNMP v3 Mode.... Disable

But regardless of what the above telnet information shows you, if you filter on all packets with a dstport number of 162 (i.e. all traps), notice that the WLC-2006A is sending ONLY SNMP v2 Traps.

There seems no way to configure the WLC-2006A to send SNMP v1 traps.

How does one configure it to send SNMP v1 traps?

Setting SNMP to v1 doesn't change a thing. It Still sends SNMP v2c traps!

Re: WLC Supported Traps (w/OID)

That setting is only to allow the WLC to be managed using snmp v1. Traps would still be sent using v2c.
