PDM hangs at startup - Virus-checking software slows startup time for PDM.

Core issue

The use of virus-checking software may dramatically increase the time required to start PIX Device Manager (PDM). This is especially true for Netscape Communicator on any Microsoft Windows platform or any browser running on Windows 2000.

Resolution

PDM will eventually run, but it may take up to several minutes due to the virus software checking the downloaded Java code to the client.

For faster results, browse from a machine that is not running virus protection software, or temporarily disable the virus scanner.
