PIX hangs when multiple users issue the show run command

Core issue

PIX allows only one user at a time to view certain commands. Assume that a user executes a show command, and while PIX prints the output of the command, PIX pauses at the <_-- _--="_--" more="more"> prompt. Another user cannot view the output of the same show command until the entire output appears on the screen of the first user.

The list of commands that can only be read by one user at a time are :

aaa
aaa-server
access-list
arp
banner
console
filter
radius-server
rip
route
snmp
ssh
url-block
url-cache
url-server
tacacs-server
telnet

Resolution

Perform one of these actions as a workaround for this issue:

  1. Set the pager size to 0, so that PIX does not pause at the <_-- _--="_--" more="more"> prompt.

  2. Locate and cancel the session of the first user. Alternatively, press the SPACE bar to page through the rest of the output.

  3. Kill the session of the first user. For Telnet, use the Kill < telnet_id > command. For SSH, use the ssh disconnect < session_id > command.

To resolve the problem, upgrade PIX to version 7.3(0.1), 3.1(1.7), or 7.2(0.42).
