A PIX running version 7.0.2 recently upgraded from version 6.3.4 shows 75 percent CPU usage for a traffic throughput of 140 Mbs. When the traffic load is reduced to 100 Mbs, the CPU usage falls to around 50 percent.

Resolution

As a workaround, download and upgrade the software version to any one of these versions:

• 7.0(5)
• 7.1(1.1)
• 7.2(0.30)
• 7.0(4.6)
