Unable to launch the Cisco Security Manager Client, and the "An attempt to check the license file on CS manager server has failed.Please confirm that the server is running" error message appears

Core issue

When you launch the Cisco Security Manager (CSM) Client, it produces the An attempt to check the license file on CS manager server has failed.Please confirm that the server is running error message.

Resolution

In order to resolve this issue, complete these steps:

  1. Make sure all of the CSM services run on the server.

  2. Reboot the server and login again. If this does not help, continue to step three.

  3. Move the eval license file from $NMSROOT/etc/licenses/CSM to another location, for example, the desktop, and try to login.

  4. If none of these steps help, uninstall the client and remove all of the installed files for the CSM from the machine, and then reinstall the same.
