WebVPN and SSL VPN Client sessions to an ASA running software version 7.1 are intermittently disconnected

Core issue

This problem occurs due to the presence of Cisco bug ID CSCse29700.

This problem was originally reported on the 7.0.4 base. It is reported to effect both existing and new CiscoSecure Socket Layer [SSL] VPN Client (SVC) and WebVPN sessions after 40 to 50 days of operation. After this time, all active and new sessions are disconnected, irrespective of the group configuration and internal or external authentication.

Note: If the syslogs are checked, this message is seen:

%ASA-4-113019: Group = abcxyz, Username = mnopq, IP = 1.1.1.1, Session disconnected. Session Type: SVC, Duration: 0h:00m:

Resolution

As a workaround, perform either of these steps:

  • Reload the Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) until the issue is resolved.

  • Download and upgrade the ASA software to any one of these versions:

  • 7.2(1.3)

  • 7.3(0.19)
