I am having trouble syncing an external time server to our VPN Concentrator running image vpn3000-3.6.1.Rel-k9.bin.
The time server is 140.142.16.34 (bigben.cac.washington.edu). We also seem to be having a DNS resolution problem as well, but one problem at a time.
I am getting the following error message:
7030 12/11/2002 15:01:28.480 SEV=4 GENERAL/2 RPT=15
NTP time synchronization failed - The time could not be adjusted.
I would appreciate any insights people may have.

Hi,
1. Ping the NTP Server and make sure that there is IP Connectivity.
2. And since your DNS is not working , configure using an ip address.
3. Make sure that your filter on the interface is allowing traffic for NTP to go through.

Arul,
Thanks for responding to my question.
I can ping the the NTP server by IP address.
Which rules need to be created and applied to the public interface filter? NTP/UDP in and out?
Thanks!

Hi,
We need to make sure that your Filters are configured to allow TCP port 123 and UDP port 123 for NTP communication.
