Requirements for full 10MB LAN-2-LAN

I have 2 sites, bith which have full 10MB connections to the internet. I am trying to configure a IPSEC VPN link to allow usage of the full bandwidth if required (for backup, files transfer). On one side I have a PIX515E and on the other I have a PIX506E. Is this possible with these devices?

Re: Requirements for full 10MB LAN-2-LAN

Hello Daniel,

you should be able to get the desired throughput:

PIX506E:

100 Mbps of firewall throughput, 16 Mbps of Triple Data Encryption Standard (3DES) VPN throughput, and 30 Mbps of Advanced Encryption Standard-128 (AES) VPN throughput

PIX515E:

Certain PIX 515E models include high-availability services as well as integrated hardware VPN acceleration that delivers up to 140 Mbps of Triple Data Encryption Standard (3DES) VPN throughput and 140 Mbps of Advanced Encryption Standard-256 (AES) VPN throughput.

Re: Requirements for full 10MB LAN-2-LAN

thank you - that is what i had read also. For some reasopn I do not seem to be able to get full speed through the VPN and it mostly hovers around 4.5Mbps. Are there any parameters on either firewall (I canoot find any) that would restrict this?

Yes, the internet may be a parameter. I assume this is not a direct connection?

Re: Requirements for full 10MB LAN-2-LAN

hi - no, it's a fiber link to the internet on each side with the VPN running from firewall to firewall. Strangely enough, last night we reached data replication speeds nearing 10MB.

thanks for all you inputs
