We are unable to get reliability of serial link value which can be monitered and can be tracked to be used for generating an alarm.

any link on cisco.com ?

Thanks in advance

Hi Subodh,

Your message doesn't make it very clear as to exactly what you're looking for, but maybe you're wondering how to monitor interface status for serial links in your Network Management station? If that's so, I think this link will be helpful to you, as it describes some of the ways Cisco routers and switches can be monitored:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1828/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00800ca555.html

Please let me know if this is the kind of information you're looking for, or if you need something more specific.

Regards,

-Joe

Hi

We are looking for a value which is returned by command :

sh interface ser 0/0 : it will return many parametrs like , tx , rx load , reliability and lots more.

this reliability value is 255/255 for normal working conditions. when it drops, ipsec doesnt work. we need to mannually start backup line. Our NMS is not able to catch this value. There is some NMS Value ( long number .. . .. . ) . If NMS can track this parameter we will use this to automatically start backup line.

Thanks Subodh

Hi Subodh,

What you want should be available in the OLD-CISCO-INTERFACES-MIB (hopefully your device/IOS supports this MIB) which can be viewed by going to:

http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseMIB.do?local=en&step=2&mibName=

OLD-CISCO-INTERFACES-MIB#contents

The objects that may meet your needs are

.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.22

locIfReliab OBJECT-TYPE

-- FROM OLD-CISCO-INTERFACES-MIB

SYNTAX Integer

MAX-ACCESS read-only

STATUS Mandatory

DESCRIPTION "The reliability of the interface. Used by IGRP."

.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.24

locIfLoad OBJECT-TYPE

-- FROM OLD-CISCO-INTERFACES-MIB

SYNTAX Integer

MAX-ACCESS read-only

STATUS Mandatory

DESCRIPTION "The loading factor of the interface. Used by IGRP."

Also I'm sending you the link for MIB Browser:

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/Mibbrowser/unity.pl

If those two objects aren't the one's you're looking for, the MIB Browser should help you to find the object you need. Of course, if you need more assistance, feel free to ask. :-)

Please let me know if this helps.
