I want to setup a Gigabit channel on two separate modules, for redundancy. The channel would go from a Catalyst 6509 to a Catalyst 4006 using the 8-port Gigabit module on the Catalyst 6509 and the two Gigabit ports on the Supervisor Engine on the Catalyst 4006. Yes, an Etherchannel can span line cards on the Catalyst 6500 and 4000 switches. You need to configure the ports on different line cards in the same admin group to get this configuration to work.
