CIP Logical Address question

We have a client who uses two CIP cards to connect to mainframe host via TCPaccess w/ GATED. Is it possible to use a logical address for the CIP instead of physical address for TCPaccess network configuration? Because we tried to use a logical address for CIP in the TCPCFGxx configuration and use a virtual IP address(VIPA) to access the host. In this case we failed to access the host using the VIPA. But we succeeded in accessing the host using the actual IP address of the host.

Since there has been no response to your post, it appears to be either too complex or too rare an issue for other forum members to assist you. If you don't get a suitable response to your post, you may wish to review our resources at the online Technical Assistance Center (http://www.cisco.com/tac) or speak with a TAC engineer. You can open a TAC case online at http://www.cisco.com/tac/caseopen

If anyone else in the forum has some advice, please reply to this thread.

Thank you for posting.

If you can access the IP address of the directly connected interface but not the VIPA address, you probably just need to add a static route pointing to the VIPA address with the directly connected address as the next hop. Either that, or you need to run a routing protocol across the channel with the router.
