Is it possible to connect to OS/390's together (VTAM to VTAM) over WAN link using CIP against OSA & Enterprise Extender ?

If so has anyone demo what/how to configure each site.

Thanks

Hi Magnus. I presume your question is related to using CIP for host channel access for host-to-host connections vs. using OSA (OSA-E). You can certainly support IP connectivity (CLAW/CMPC+) using the CIP. So if the VTAM hosts are EE enabled (with EBN if VTAMs are in different subnets) you can support transport over the CIP. If EE is not in the picture then DLSw+ might fit into the picture since DLSw+ supports PU4/5 to PU4/5 connections. DLSw+ is not an SNI replacement solution however (EE/EBN is). Regards, Steve

Hi,

If all you're asking is, can I connect MF w/ CIP to MF w/ OSA using EE? the simple answer is yes. The network is IP all the way.

Configure CIP for CLAW or CMPC+ and if using OSA-Express you will use QDIO mode.

Check the IBM TCP/IP configuration guides for more info on host EE definitions.

regards,

Rick.
