Data Center grounds and the 6509

We are currently working with an Engineering firm that is designing power distribution in a control room. The specification is to bring 4, No. 6 conductors into a distribution box and which will connect the 6509 using an L6-30, two 220V conductors and an isolated ground. The fourth conductor is safety ground which is tied to the rack in the junction box. The question is this; is the ground in the 6509 isolated from the chassis or is it connected. If its connected, we loose our isolated ground.Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I can't answer if the ground is connected to the chassis or isolated. But here is the link how to ground 6500 series switches, figure 3-18/19/20 point to the grounding system of 6509/6509-NEB/6509-E http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_installation_guide_chapter09186a008020e0a9.html#wp1028096

Make sure you connect them to a reliable earth grounding.
