How do we implement user bandwidth monitoring and control.

We are being asked to implement a bandwidth monitoring and control solution basically function as an ISP. -Our customer wants to start billing users by bandwidth utilized on Ethernet and ATM IP configured (LANE/ ISL encap) interfaces based on network address.

Well I suppose you can use ip accounting

to monitor and collect bandwindht user per network

prefix or host.

This accounting states can be polled via SNMP if required and

also note that traffic generated by the IOS software do not show up

in the traffic accounting.

Each host defined in the global command ip accounting-list can then be billed based

on number of packets outputed. the number packet send would indicate the amount of bamdwidth used

from calculations.

Also is CEFis being used, you can do acocunting with ip cef as well.

P.S. If you're also considering limiting bandwdith used per host you can use

CAR for this to police the traffic and perform some actions for traffic that exceed limits.
