Nexus 5500 Layer 3 Daughter Card - How to Check Utilization

Greetings!

I've read that the N5K L3 Daughter Card connects to the switch fabric using two ASICs, giving it a throughput of 160Gbps.  Also read that each packet has to go into and out of that daughter card.  Does anyone know how to check utilization of the L3 card?

Thanks!

I ended up getting the answer from TAC. First put in these two commands:

test ethpm l3 enable-show-iport
test port-channel l3 enable-show-ipc

Then you will get some new port channels showing up (127 and 128).

I'm not sure what 128 is for, but 127 is the internal port channel for the L3 card. Then you can view stats and poll with SNMP against the interface...

show interface port-channel 127

I also received some info from TAC on this question.

They mentioned that there is an open bug to provide a supported CLI command to obtain this information:

  • CSCtx35184      CLI to monitor Internal PC usage for L3 traffic

but that any of the currently available commands aren't recommended for use in production.

I appears to be working just fine in my production environments for the past 7 days. YMMV

Good to know - thanks for info.
