Nexus commands to monitor VPC

Hi.

I need some help to know commands to monitor vpc and the load balancing mode. How the VPc works between a remote catalyst switch and how it works between VPc and port channel load balancing.

show port-channel load-balance to check the method being used

and

sh port-channel traffic

to see the distribution over the local members. It is impossible to see the stats of the peer-switch. Traffic which needs to be switched out of a vpc will never cross the vpc-peer link unles all the local member ports of the vpc are down.

Hi,

The Cisco Nexus supports load balancing based on Source/Destination MAC, IP and TCP/UDP port number. As mentioned above, the current load-balancing mode can be seen with the show port-channel load-balance command. To change this use the port-channel load-balance ethernet in global configuration.

There are details of the available options to be found in the Load Balancing Using Port Channel of the Nexus 5000 Configuration Guide. You don't mention whether it's Nexus 7K or 5K, but the commands are the same on both.

To view the system priority use the show vpc status command.
