NEXUS_VSG_SERVICES_PKG license install failure on N1kv VSM

Hello,

I am trying to install a NEXUS_VSG_SERVICES_PKG on a N1kv VSM 4.2(1)SV2(2.2).

VSM# install license bootflash:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.lic
Installing license failed: License server does not support this feature

According to Cisco, VSG feature is not supported on this image

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/ios-nx-os-software/nx-os-software/111294-technote-n7k-00.html#anc10

,but according to the release note VSG L3 is supported.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus1000/sw/4_2_1_s_v_2_2_2/release/notes/n1000v_rn.html

What I find strange is that on VSM 4.2(1)SV2(2.2) show license usage does not show a NEXUS_VSG_SERVICES_PKG, but a NEXUS1000V_STINGRAY_PKG.

VSM 4.2(1)SV2(2.2):

vsm-n1k# sh license usage
Feature                      Ins  Lic   Status Expiry Date Comments
                                 Count
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEXUS1000V_STINGRAY_PKG       No    0   Unused             -
NEXUS1000V_LAN_SERVICES_PKG   No    0   Unused             -
NEXUS_ASA1000V_SERVICES_PKG   No    0   Unused             -
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4.2(1)SV2(2.1):

vsm-n1k# sh license usage
Feature                      Ins  Lic   Status Expiry Date Comments
                                 Count
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEXUS_VSG_SERVICES_PKG        No    0   Unused             -
NEXUS1000V_LAN_SERVICES_PKG   No    0   Unused             -
NEXUS_ASA1000V_SERVICES_PKG   No    0   Unused             -
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bogdan

Solved !

Downgraded to 4.2(1)SV2(2.1) and license NEXUS_VSG_SERVICES_PKG installed successfully.
