I have 2 mainframes each with a unique NETID. Each mainframe has a fep. I run MSNF ( multiple systems networking facility ) between the FEP's. I was told that if I turn on APPN on my VTAM's, I could set up APPN nodes and run MSNF across CIPs instead of the FEP's.
My question is will I have any unexpected problems with the MSNF connections, other SNI connections, or anything already running on the NCP / FEP just by turning on APPN.
You should be able to run subarea networking and APPN networking concurrently without any problems but you should check out the SORDER and SSEARCH start options which determine the order in which the networks are searched.
