I have been having the usual VEM-VSM communication issues as so many people out there, but have identified a problem with the control, mgmt, & packet VLAN configuration, as show in 'vemcmd show card'.
The problem is, I cannot for the life of me find out HOW to change this information. 'vemcmd set' does not offer an option to change the VLANs specifically, only to set a VLAN as a system VLAN on a port.
Does anyone know how to change the control and packet VLANs shown in 'show card'?
There are two problems preventing me from following your suggestions:
1. The VEM has fallen out of VSM management
2. The other hosts are all in production - can't really just go yanking them out of the 1000V at this point.
I know that each VEM has a persistant configuration cache, otherwise it would be blank after every reboot. There are many other VEM configuration commands; where is the command to change what is shown in 'vemcmd show card' ?
There is no command to change what comes back from vemcmd show card. That information is called opaque data and is pushed from vCenter. There is no way to change that. If you have just one VEM that is having the problem I would try to troubleshoot just that VEM.
By pulling the VEM out of the N1KV in vCenter you clear that opaque data.
