Hi all,

We had a discussion about the configuration of a  vPC on a line card F3 12 port -40G for nexus 7000 with breakout adapters QSFP-4X10G, is that possible to configure a vPC for this line card with the breakout adapter (QSFP-4X10G)???

You configure a Virtual Port-Channel interface using individual interfaces, just like any other port-channel.  So, yes, you can use the 10G interfaces that result from using the breakout cable to create a VPC port channel.  You can also use it for anything else you want, like the peer-link or keep-alive.  There are no restrictions on usage after the port is broken out except that all 4 10G interfaces must be in the same VDC.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your answer. Just to be clear, are you saying that once I connect the adapter the operating system (NX-OS) recognizes four 10G interfaces and can be configured each one?

I can't find the command in the command reference, but it looks like this support was added in 6.2(8) code for the F3 module.  You should be able to use this command:

interface breakout module <x> port <x - y>

Thats so cool! Thanks for your help Dan.
