WAN_BUSY on 7204

Hi,

I have 2 Cisco 7513 routers with CIP2 cards. On the LAN side I have 2 7204 routers running Ethernet redundancy connected to 2 Catlayst 6509 switches.

I am having very poor response on my DLSw sessions and one thing I have noticed is that as soon as I have this response problems, my DLSw peer is in a WAN_BUSY status.

I have searched the entire CCO but cannot find any help in this regard. I know that it is beacause of the TCP outbound queue being full, bt how do I rectify it?

Any help welcome!

Regards

Dean

do a show dlsw peer. The second rightest column shows the number of entry in the TCP queue for a particular peer.

To resolve the problem, you may want to do a "show dlsw cap" and find out if the remote DLSw peer support "UDP unicast" or not. Using UDP, instead of TCP, for LLC1 and explorers may resolve the problem.

"dlsw icannotreach saps" or "dlsw icanreach" is a good way to filter out unwanted traffic sending to the WAN.

Hi,

Below is the output:

Peers: state pkts_rx pkts_tx type drops ckts TCP uptime

TCP 10.226.2.3 WAN_BUSY 35726 128036 prom 0 25 90 1d12

What I do notice is that this figure fluctuates continuously.

There are 90 entries in the TCP queue when you take the show dlsw peer. It is kind of high.

Please go to the following URL regarding a field alert on DLSw:

http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/770/fn20673.shtml

Please make sure that you are not hitting the TCP bugs.

If not, I suggest you to do one or more of the followings:

1. use UDP unicast

2. filter out unnecessary traffic

3. increase the WAN bandwidth

Hi,

Thanks, I will try these changes.
