X.25 QLLC for IBM FEPs (3745)

I am not able to find any example showing that QLLC is supported also for FEPs.

My configuration should be the following:

FEP-LAN-ROUter-X.25cloud-router-LAN-FEP

In other word I need to let two FEPs to talk trough an X.25 cloud. Each of the two FEPs is LAN connected to a Router with local DLSW and QLLC support enabled. Is this supported? I found examples to support PU2, but not FEP, that are PU4. Thanks, Moreno Sartorel IBM Italy

Hello Moreno,

There is not a sample configuration for that, however you may want to check out the following URLs.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/tech/tk331/tk336/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080093cbd.shtml

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/tech/tk331/tk336/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080093fba.shtml

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/tech/tk331/tk341/technologies_tech_note09186a0080093da1.shtml

Why don't you use " TCP over X25" and run dlsw between the routers ? Knowing that the FEPs are on the LAN, why do you need to run the QLLC ? I would suggest using dlsw between the routers.

Re: X.25 QLLC for IBM FEPs (3745)

In reality the configuration is more complex than that I described. The two FEP are not owned and controlled by the same customer; one of them is not under our control.

On my site, I have a x.25 line that is now connected to the FEP; I would like to change this connection type, without asking the renote to do nothing; i want to put an additional router that will attach to the X.25 line and then connect the FEP via LAN. I can't ask the remote to activate DLSW.

I have already seen the documents you referred to, but they don't talk about QLLC for PU4.

Hi Moreno,

Only PU2 to PU4 connection is supported through QLLC.

You cannot connect PU4 to PU4 as you described.

Hi Moreno

excuse me but i don't speak very well english(i am french).

If you want connect two PU4, use APPN in VTAM over QLLC/DLSW

example on router and vtam

interface Serial2/1

description line-out xxxxxxx

bandwidth 256

no ip address

encapsulation x25 ietf

no keepalive

x25 alias .*

x25 htc 10

x25 ips 256

x25 ops 256

x25 idle 1

x25 map qllc 0200.eca2.c9c8 1111111

x25 map qllc 0200.eca2.8964 1111111

serial restart-delay 0

qllc accept-all-calls

qllc dlsw subaddress 05 vmacaddr 0200.eca2.c9c8 partner 4004.ac20.810e
