TSI-Input buffer OFLW Error on PNC alarms

Problem


Customer reports receiving TS-Input buffer OFLW errors when new Audio or Video streams are configured on PNC Web GUI.

Resolution Details

Cause/Effect - The input FIFO is not being emptied fast enough, or is being filled too fast.

Action -  If the FIFO is not being emptied, it could mean a  clock card failure or a configuration problem. If the FIFO is being filled too fast, it usually indicates that the encoder rate is set too high.
In this case, error was caused due to bandwidth configuration mismatch at Encoder and on PNC web GUI..

Troubleshooting tips
Check and configure bandwidth on the PNC’s Web GUI higher (about 10%) than that configured on the encoder. As long as the Total Bandwidth on the PNC web GUI is greater than what is going into the DCM (and within signal BW limits as well) then there shouldn’t be any overflow errors.

Explanation -
Earlier when Audio 2-8 settings on D9036 were configured as 256 Kbps, while PNC web GUI was configured as 128 Kbps, a bandwidth bottleneck was created. Devices keep a certain amount of buffer storage space for a specific time period to acquire sequence and play out UDP Packets for a specific time period. Adding more input Audio streams caused more flow of UDP packets filling up buffer storage quickly than expected resulting in TS-Input buffer OFLW error.
