Nss4000 upgrade failed, shares are not available on encrypted volume

After upgrading from 1.12 to 1.16 the shares on the encrypted volume are not shown in the shares list after unlocking the volume.

Restoring a system config from before the upgrade does not change anything

who can help?

jerry

Re: Nss4000 upgrade failed, shares are not available on encrypte

Hi Jerry

I  have had the same problem after a successful upgrade.

I found a strange solution to fix this issue, I realy don't know if this works for you.

our setup:

- encrypted volume with 2 shares

- CIFS Access only

Try to do something like this:

- Enable FTP (and the Root directory your encrypted volume)

- After the configuration rebuild I saw my "old" shares, but I couldn't connect

- Add FTP to this shares

- Access via FTP to this volume/shares, that should work

- Disable CIFS Access on the shares

- Remove User rights from the shares

- update configuration

- Enable CIFS access on the shares

- Add rights on the Shares

- update configuration

After this, it works for me.

Don't ask why the shares are there after enablin the ftp, it's seems that after a configuration change on the shares/volume and rebuild the configuration, they get back....

good luck

Re: Nss4000 upgrade failed, shares are not available on encrypte

tnx Roger

this did work BUT after a reboot in shares were gone again

after trying the same setup steps a couple of times I had the same result so I tried something else

- Enable FTP (and the Root directory your encrypted volume)

- After the configuration rebuild I saw my "old" shares

- Add FTP to the shares, Disable CIFS Access on the shares

- Remove User rights from the shares

- update configuration

- reboot

after the reboot I could not see the shares anymore even after trying the steps that worked before,

also after creating a new FTP share without the users or groups after a reboot I cannot see the new share. there is something really wrong in rel 1.16

any ideas?

Re: Nss4000 upgrade failed, shares are not available on encrypte

had contact with cisco

advice is to

- us explorer (not internet explorer) to go to "//IP-number-of-nss/storage"

(note : make sure you are not connected to nss with explorer)

- login with admin

- goto RAIDA, volume

- Copy all data

- switch to explorer and login on IP address

- delete volume

- Create new shares

- Copy data back
