I'm currently evaluating a NSS 324 Storage system. I want to replicate data from a central file server to many NSS systems in remote locations. This should be done via rsync and works basically as wanted.
However I have now noticed that by enabling "Allow remote Rsync server to back up data to NAS" no user account/password is checked, so anyone could replicate data to the NSS.
If I disable the setting, I will be prompted for a passwort, but it is not accepted. The command I execute on the server side is "rsync -avz SIT/* email@example.com::SIT" and it ends in "@ERROR: auth failed on module SIT" even when the correct password is used.
