High CPU due to encrypt proc

Hi folks,

We are facing high CPU on 2811 router and top process utilization is "encrypt proc", we aware this CPU utilization is since we disabled the hardware VPN module due to the issues on the S2S tunnel.

Would like to know any other possible ways to reduce the CPU utilization without enabling the hardware VPN.

Thanks in advance . . .

Best regards,

The VPN card is a dedicated

The VPN card is a dedicated hardware that does nothing but encryp/decrypt packets.  If you disable this then something has to do the encryption and the only left is the router's CPU.  This makes it worst if you're router is pushing more traffic that it should.

The only way to fix this is to get your VPN card issues sorted and turn it back on or disable encryption (not a pretty good idea).  Another silly method is to get a pair of third-party encryption boxes (not a pretty good idea if you're in a tight budget).

Another way is to check your configuration and do some cleanup.  This can sometimes help.
