RV016 Firewall is blocking QuickVPN access

Be forwarned - I'm not a supertech when it comes to routers and router language.

We have had our router and remote computers set up with Quick VPN for over a year. We've had our share of problems but have worked around them.

Now, out of the blue, no one can connect to the VPN. I went in to try to do some 'troubleshooting' and the ONLY thing that allows our VPN connection to go through is to completely disable the RV016 firewall. We have too many remote users to actually start and stop the firewall everytime someone needs the VPN connection.

Does anyone have a similar problem and can offer advice in a clear and easy to understand manner?

There can be many things possibly wrong. First you have to ask yourself a few questions

  • •1)     Does every remote using having same problem if no then most likely it’s not a problem with RV0xx router and could possibly be Microsoft updates. If yes next question
  • •2)     Has anything changed lately? ISP, Power outages, reboots, new accounts.
  • •3)     Have you made any changes within settings of your Router?

If nothing has changed within a year on RV016 then most likely it was an update within your clients that are starting to cause connection problems.

After looking at these questions and you feel it’s a router related issue and need router support give the SBSC a call @ 1-866-606-1866 and open a support case.
