RV320 to RV320: Not able to ping hosts.

Dear support community:

We're connecting two RV320 routers on a lab setting. We're able to ping both WAN interfaces, but not the hosts connected to the LAN ports on each of the routers.

Both firewalls are down, and both routers are on "Router" working mode. Also, both interfaces show "Connected" on the System Summary tab.

R1's WAN1 port is configured as follows:

IP: 192.168.200.1

Netmask: 255.255.255.252

Default Gateway: 192.168.200.2

R2's WAN1 port is configure as follows:
IP: 192.168.200.2.

Netmask: 255.255.255.252

Default Gateway: 192.168.200.1

R1's LAN1 port is configured as follows:

VLAN: 1

IP Address: 192.168.1.1

Netmask: 255.255.255.0

DHCP: Disabled

R2's LAN1 Port is configured as follows:

VLAN: 1

IP Address: 192.168.9.1

Netmask: 255.255.255.0

DHCP: Disabled

PC1 is conected to R1's LAN1 port and configured as follows:
IP Address: 192.168.1.10

Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

PC2 is connected to R2's LAN1 port and configured as follows:
IP Address: 192.168.9.10

Netmask: 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway: 192.168.9.1

So it's a basic lab setting, but here's the situation:
PC1 is able to ping R1, R2 WAN and R2 LAN but can't get to PC2

PC2 is able to ping R2, R1 WAN and R2 LAN but can't get to PC1.

I have opened Wireshark on PC1 and the ICMP packet gets through, but the echo reply is not getting all the way back to PC2.

Can you please help me find what's wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Juan,

Try turning the firewalls off on the PCs, especially any third party firewall. Another thing you can try is to connect a network printer, print server, IP camera or any other device that can be on the LAN and respond to pings but has no firewall. We often see cases where a VPN tunnel is connected and working but the PC firewall is blocking ping replies.

Spot on Marty! Thank you.

There was a third party firewall blocking ICMP responses on both PC's. We were about to lose our minds here. Great answer.

Juan,

You're welcome, glad I could help!
