time zone in router

I have an RVO42G and was wondering what exactly the time zone setting does.  Does it have any impact on the operation of the router?

Hi,

Hi,

Generally router functions are not affected by having the wrong time as long as the time is consistent. Problems will occur is the time is being randomly reset. So if your router boots up and thinks it's 1900 for example, it will run quite happily, pretty much forever, as long as the time doesn't suddenly change. Time could be useful in..

1- logging messages display time, so it will help in troubleshooting problems if the time was correctly set.

2- some access rules which depend on time needs to be in correct time zone.

About RVO24G, I really couldn't figurout what you mean by.

Regards
