I actually really like the SRP 500 platform. However, it is missing a feature that the UC520, the 800 series ISRs, the SA500 series, and Cisco Small Business WRV series routers are not. It is the ability to connect to the router with a VPN client. Even though I can port forward if it is being used with the UC500, there is no way around this problem in a standalone situation. Support for QuickVPN, Easy VPN, and/or AnyConnect VPN clients is a must have if we want to deploy this standalone. Are there plans to support QuickVPN, Easy VPN, or AnyConnect on the SRP 500 platform?
Sorry for the late response.
Currently the SRP520 only supports point to point IPSec VPN.
We have VPN server (for Cisco VPN clients) on our roadmap.
Any Updates on VPN remote access for SRP 500 series ? is it possible to connect with IPSecuritas or any other VPN clients to connect to this platform?
So not even the Cicso v5.0 VPN client can connect to an SRP527W? What's different between that type of connection and to a fixed endpoint? The option for how to identify the remote end includes 'IP Address', 'FQDN' or 'Any'. Wouldn't that last one suggest a random remote client?
The Cisco VPN client works with a Cisco Easy VPN Server, not a standard IPSec peer as we have in the case of the SRP500.
"Any" would allow any compatible remote client to associate. This would typically be used when the remote router/client uses DHCP to get its IP address.
So just to reiterate, the SRP does not currently have a VPN server feature that would be appropriate for user remote access.
I have upgraded my SRP521W to the latest FW (v1.01.26) which includes the VPN server functionality. VPN server works w/o any problems.
However there is a feature I am missing which makes the VPN server useless (in my case):
Once the VPN client has connected to the VPN server the connected device has access to ALL VLANs as well as the WAN.
--> is there a feature planned to restrict VPN user's VLAN access (e.g. user1: VLAN1, VLAN3; user2: WAN, VLAN1, etc...)?
Andrew - Is there any news on this??
I have just purchased a new SRP527W but still no VPN client support
When I tried to load the firmware that I am running on another SRP527W (1.01.19 (VP004) Jan 7 2011) It failed!!!
I REALLY need the VPN Client Support! And now have an SRP527W that is useless to us. I don't want to have to install another brand of router, but as the client NEEDS a VPN client supported router, I am going to have no choice!!
download the latest FW for your device from the Cisco SMB support webpage (1.01.26, 29-FEB-2012) and flash it to your SRP527W. This will enable VPN Client Support on your device(s).
i hope this link works:
THANKS!! That did the trick!!
Also - Slightly off topic, is there anyway I can see ADLS connection stats, like connection time etc??
Yes - this is on a hidden page. Once you log in to the GUI, change the URL page name to "dsldiag.asp".
Thanks again!! Tricky
I am struggling to understand the output though... I am looking for how long the connection has been established.
Here is my output...

Sorry, I don't believe that this information is available on that screen (or elsewhere in the device).
Do you plan to support pptp client via wan adsl port?
In "mobile network" section pptp client is built-in, but in adsl "internet setup" section pptp client is not available.
Our company also REALLY need the vpn client support in SRP527W! But not IPSec vpn. Many remote clients(points of retail outlets) connects to corporate pptp server. We planned that SRP would initiate connection to pptp server. But SRP initiate pptp connection only via USB 3G backup WAN interface. Via primary interface (adsl) SRP don't initiate pptp tunnel - this functional is absent...
Please add to roadmap possibility of initiating pptp session on the adsl interface.
We don't want to have to install another brand of router's, to the other brands no trust...
