I've been trying to use the WRVS4400N as an extension switch for my existing VLAN switch, so I set up trunk ports on both ends with VLAN IDs, accepting tagged frames only.
Port 1 and 2 were untagged VLAN 1, port 3 untagged VLAN 20, and port 4 tagged 1 and 20 (trunk). I also set up an SSID on VLAN 1.
Sadly this did not work at all. Did not get DHCP addresses flowing from the master router in any shape or form, and even enabling the internal DHCP server was an utter disappointment.
Furthermore, neither WPA2-PSK or WPA-PSK worked -- tested with four different clients that haven't shown any problems with other access points.
The documentation is lacking in describing how to set up various scenarios, so I had to resort to trial and error. Mostly error.
Have any of you succeeded in using this unit for anything apart from the basic $19.99 internet router feature set?
