Connection Refused by 10.250.1.253

We use Solarwinds Orion as out NMS and have just installed Network Configuration Manager (NCM). I have downloaded and inventoried almost all our network devices but have trouble with a PIX515 in particular. The subject of this discussion. Logs look as follow:

Jul 12 2012 10:18:52: %PIX-3-710003: TCP access denied by ACL from 10.250.255.20/4917 to inside2:10.250.1.253/23

I thought this was due to an implicit deny. However even when I add an ACL I get the same thing. And I've tried all kinds of iterations of ACLs. Even as so much as a permit tcp any any just to test, still the same results. Am I missing something in PIX configuration?

Turns out I was missing something in PIX configuration. Namely:

telnet 10.250.255.20 255.255.255.255 inside2

I needed to accept telnet on the interface. So much for being a PIX greenhorn....
