SA540 and WAN QoS

I have the following question.

On my LAN I have a audio devices that sends an audio stream over the internet to another device.

This device (Deva DB9000-RX) is not QoS aware (so it is not setting a DSCP bit, and you can also not configure this).

Other devices on my LAN are pc's and a ftp server.

To prevent FTP users taking too much bandwidth I was thinking to configure Bandwidth profiles.

If I create two profiles: One for the above mentioned stream device (Priority Urgent) and a profile for anything else, will this work?

In other words when the connection becomes full, will my stream continue?

Hope to hear from someone, so I know if my way of thinking is correct

SA540 and WAN QoS

Hello Dave,

From the information you supplied you are correct, if you setup bandwidth profiles using the IP address, or protocol it should police the traffic and reserve what ever bandwidth you set for that information. However also remember that whatever bandwidth you reserve will never be able to be used for any other type of data, even if you stop streaming that space will not be used.
