Note:  After step 4 (entering username and password), the router will ask to change the lan IP address,  reboot the router, and ask you to restart all clients.

You can change the IP range back to the default (not recommended for connectivity as so many soho and home routers use the 192.168.1.x range).  But, when you add another pptp user the device will want to change from the default IP again.

So, best practise, change your lan IP address from the default BEFORE setting up PPTP vpn .

We are setting this router for the first time and are having issues with the VPN.  After following the above steps and connecting the remote client successfully the remote client picks up the DNS from the WAN settings (External DNS) not the internal DNS as specified by the DHCP.  This is different than our previous router which used the DHCP to set the DNS for the PPTP clients.  How do we get the Cisco to set the right DNS for the VPN?
