Bandwidth Limit for Internet NOT Local Network

Dear All,

I need some advices and.. help also

I want to limit the bandwidth of my users for internet e.g only 1kbps for each user for internet, but not for local network. And there are some IP address, for which I do not want to create any limitation.

I have not created any Vlans as yet. Its a new network and I am going to create one Domain Server also. So please keep that in mind and than advice.

All advices are welcome. So please help :)

Wow, that is really slow Internet. It would be basically unusable for most applications.  Can you describe your application why you want to do this?

Also, you didn't mention any of the network gear you are using or have you not purchased anything yet and are looking for recommendations? It would also be helpful to know about how many users and the total Internet speed available.

I havent bought any equipment as yet. And, unfortunately, in Pakistan internet speed is already quite slow.

But yes, 1kbps is quite slow, it was just an example :)

For the domain, I will be making Zentyal instead of windows domain.

The switches "will be" of Cisco and I want to limit the speed via them.

I just came to know that they already have Catalyst 2950 24 port switch.

Shorter answer is you can easily do this with any Cisco Meraki MX appliance.
