Hello all,

I hope i am posting this in the right location.

Having trouble with connecting two switch together with a fiber port on each switch.

Hardware two switchs SGE2010 G1,G2,G3,G4 ports for a fiber card.

Hardware catalytic 3750 with 4 fiber ports

I have two GLCSXMMAOT fiber ports.  I have the two SGE2010's stacked.

No hardware link light.  Can not bring up the interface to "up" always "down"

I have also two MGBSX1 transceivers also no luck with these.  No hardware link or brinigng the interface "up"

If anyone can help i would really appreciate.

Thank you,

Leroy

Hi Harry, MGBSX1 needs to pair with GLC-SX-MM SFP-GE-S for the Catalyst side.

Hello Tom,

I am very new to setting up the fiber ports.  Let me see if i understand.

Need to place the MGBSX1 in the SGE2010 and the GLC-SXMM SFP-GE-S <-----  This one is not the GLC-SXMMAOT.

If this is correct how to bring up the interfaces on each switch and setup there speed to 1G.

Thank you,

Leroy

Hi Harry, correct, MGBSX1 on the SGE switch and the Catalyst uses the GLC-SXMM.

The SGE switch port is enabled by default. The Catalyst you likely need to do a no shut down since it likely err-disable on the SFP mismatch.

Hello Tom,

Thank you for the info Cat 3750 in online with the GLC-SXMM.

Now the SGE2010 is not working with the MGBSX1.  Do i need to remove the stack mode to get the firber port to work?

If the answer is yes how do i get the two interfaces to talk to each other.

Sorry i again i am a noobie learning how to do this.

Thanks again,

leroy

Hi Harry, the stack ports are shared with gi24 and 48 (as you should observe, they are not listed on the port list as configurable ports). You should be able to use the two far right SFP ports as uplink ports.
