DHCP Relay on SGE2010

Hi, I have a stack of 2 x SGE2010 as the core of a small network with a number of VLANs - the switches are running in Layer 3 mode.

I need my PCs in VLAN 15 to get DHCP from a server in VLAN 38 so I have enabled DHCP relay and put in the DHCP server IP address 192.168.38.2.

I have added all VLANs as DHCP Interfaces but still my clients say 'no response from DHCP server'. Am I missing something obvious ? This used to be fairly straight forwards with dhcp-helper in IOS !

Thanks in advance,

Paul.

Hi Paul,

Have you ever sorted out your problem? Having same issue, 2 sge2010 stacked, in layer 3 mode, have followed another post

DHCP Relay on SGE2010

Hi gondar,

Yes I did get it sorted but mainly through trial and error and it was some time ago. I seem to remember that there is an option for dhcp in the menu structure and I had to make changes in two fields. I'm sorry I don't remember any more than that & don't have access to the boxes now.

DHCP Relay on SGE2010

Hi Paul,

Just to let you know, my problem was not with the switch, but the DHCP server which had an application that was hijacking the bootp port ... So the switch was doing the right thing all along, but server was not responding except on VLAN 1.

Thanks for replying.
