SG300 10p - disconnects after trying to apply ip to vlans

Its really my first foray into a Cisco SMB device - have been trying to configure the SG300 10P for a few days now but to no avail. I have also upgraded to latest firmware 1.3.5.58 and now downgraded back to 1.3.0.62 and the problem resides.

I am simply trying to create vlan and assign an IP to it (I am in L3 mode) - however each time I go to apply the IP - I lose connection and then I have to unplug the device again to connect back. For example if I try to implement the below - courtesy of Tom Watts at the point where I am creating vlan 200 and assigning the Ip address once I press enter - it will lose connection. The same happens within the gui. Any ideas where I am going wrong.

config t

vlan database

vlan 200

exit

interface vlan 1

ip address 192.168.100.137 255.255.255.0

no ip address dhcp

exit

interface vlan 200

ip address 192.168.99.1 255.255.255.0

exit

ip dhcp server

ip dhcp pool network test

address low 192.168.99.1 high 192.168.99.254 255.255.255.0

default-router 192.168.99.1

dns-server 8.8.8.8

Also separately I can't get the DHCP server to issue any Ip addresses to clients so I am having manually assign addresses on client devices.

Hi Abdul,

If the switch is factory default try to do this

config t

int vlan 1

ip address 192.168.100.137 /24

----> Reconnect to the switch on the management IP

config t

vlan database 200

ip address 192.168.99.1 /24

Hi Tom

Thanks for the response - I think the issue with the loss of connection has been with the fact that the static ip of the default vlan 1 has not been set to static.

however still cant get dhcp server to work. The idea is that Vlan 10 issues ip address from a pool to devices (laptops etc).

My config as follows

ip dhcp server

ip dhcp pool network office

address low 172.19.1.1 high 172.19.1.253

default-router 172.19.1.254

dns-server 8.8.8.8

interface vlan 1

ip address 172.19.0.240 255.255.254.0

no ip address dhcp

interface vlan 10

ip address 172.19.1.254 255.255.255.0

Hi Abdul, your config looks right

Here is my config

ip dhcp server

ip dhcp pool network test

address low 192.168.2.2 high 192.168.2.254 255.255.255.0

lease infinite

default-router 192.168.2.1

dns-server 8.8.8.8

So the only omission I see is if you made an access port for your VLAN.

config t

int gi05

switchport mode access

switchport access vlan 10
