Hi Community

On the SG300-28 the ports look physical as they are section of 6 ports. 1-6 - 7-12 etc.

Are all ports on the same backplane in the switch??

The question is:

Are there any perfomance benefits if we sent trafic between port 1-3 vs sent between 1-10????

Hi Steenbroberg

There is nothing like that, all the ports from port 1 to 24 has the same performance after the reset or without any manual configuration on the ports. In order know more about ports on the device you can refer the data sheet of SG300 series switches.

To configure the Port settings refer to the following link:

Configure Port Settings on 200/300 Series Managed Switches

Thanks Punith!!

Hi Punith!

Is it the same case with Catalyst series 2960 and 2960s switche?

Hi Daniel

I am sorry I didnt get much chance to work on them. But you can refer to the data sheets of those switches they will provide how the ports are designed.

Thanks & Regards

Since all the ports collapse directly on a single silicon chip, there is no "backplane". All forwarding is performed at wirespeed directly in this silicon.
