Upgraded an SG300-20 from 1.1.1.8 to 1.3.7.18 this afternoon. Bootloader was old enough I figured it probably should be updated as well. No way to do it through HTTPS, so it's time for TFTP. Documentation not great. Start up TFTP server, log in via SSH, stumble around CLI looking for a 'show flash' equivalent, where is the filesystem in this thing? Success with 'copy tftp://servername/sx300_boot-13506.rfb boot' Reboot. Ruh rho.
How do I recover this thing? No examples of using xmodem in the guides that I can find.
thx...

Last night, the switch was not responding to pings or ARPing. As of this morning, the IP stack has woken up, and all appears well.
#show version
SW version 1.3.7.18 ( date 12-Jan-2014 time 18:02:59 )
Boot version 1.3.5.06 ( date 21-Jul-2013 time 15:12:10 )
HW version V01
Odd that the switch would not pass traffic for over an hour after the boot file was updated.
Your Word Doc seems to suggest copying from the switch to the TFTP server:
#copy boot tftp://192.168.1.101/sx300_boot-13506.rfb
This morning I did the reverse order (just like last night):
#copy tftp://192.168.X.Y/sx300_boot-13506.rfb boot
13-Jan-2014 02:13:35 %COPY-I-FILECPY: Files Copy - source URL tftp://192.168.X.Y/sx300_boot-13506.rfb destination URL flash://BOOT
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
13-Jan-2014 02:13:43 %COPY-N-TRAP: The copy operation was completed successfully
Copy: 393232 bytes copied in 00:00:08 [hh:mm:ss]
Still wondering how I can show the flash contents or at least the boot file.
#show bootvar

Hi Murray,
So anything up and running now as how it should be?
Cisco Small business switch not support real IOS. Cisco Small business use something different then IOS. Cisco did that for limited switch use. However SG300 switch hardware same as any 3650 catalyst switch.
Also please let me know new boot version
show version
Thanks,
Moh

I am aware that the firmware is not really IOS, but the similarities can trick you :)
Yes, the original switch did update:
#show version
SW version 1.3.7.18 ( date 12-Jan-2014 time 18:02:59 )
Boot version 1.3.5.06 ( date 21-Jul-2013 time 15:12:10 )
HW version V01
Still wondering if there is a command to show this kind of info on the boot file before you reboot the switch (similar to what show bootvar does for firmware)?
