SG500 IP Phone Option 66

Hello everybody, recently in our company we moved the dhcp server from the router to the main SG500 switch in the network but we faced a problem with the IP Phones (SPA-504G), we couldn't configure dhcp static host option 66.

The configuration on the router was:

 ip dhcp pool SPA504_923
   host 192.168.100.145 255.255.252.0
   client-identifier 01e8.b748.1565.6e
   option 66 ascii "http://192.168.100.2:5000/provisioning/$MA.xml"
   default-router 192.168.100.1
   dns-server 195.170.0.1 8.8.8.8

When i try to telnet to the switch and add the option 66 command it rejects it. The problem is that we can't give the switch the path to the configuration file.

Thank you for you time!

Hello Mr. Korliaftis,The CLI

Hello Mr. Korliaftis,

The CLI command for option 66 is a bit different on the SG500s.  While they are very similar to IOS, it is not exactly the same.

In order to setup option 66 in CLI you need to enter the DHCP pool config mode for that pool, and add the following command:

next-server-name http://192.168.100.2:5000/provisioning/$MA.xml

The ? does work in the Small Business switches as well, so give that a try if you are ever stuck on something to see all of the available commands.

There is also a CLI guide available, but at 1000 pages I understand it isn't always the easiest way to find the command your looking for.

Hope that helps,

Thank you so much for your answer you helped me a lot! I was wondering if there is a way to do it on the web interface of the switch?
