I am having issues with my network reaching 100% utilization so I would like to set up port mirroring. We recently purchased a few SLM2048's and one of the key features we looked at was port mirroring.
Unfortunately now that I am trying to set it up I came across the limitation that only 4 source ports could be configured. This is far from helpful on a 48 port switch. It seems like I must be missing something. Am I going about this the wrong way?
What exactly are you wanting to capture on the switch. All of our switches have a limit on them. Our upper end small business switches have a limit of 8 ports that can be mirrored, its a limitation that has been placed on the switch. If your looking to capture the most traffic on your network to analyze it, I would mirror the tx and rx on the port going to your router/gateway. This will be where you can analyze a lot of traffic on the network. If you have servers being utilized a lot, I would try that.
