Stacking SGE2010P with SGE2000

Hello,

I’m connecting SGE2010P switch with SGE2000 into a stack. I think, that stack building process should automatically set master and backup or slave switch.

I put both switches to factory settings and connected them to a stack from port 48 on SGE2010P to port 12 on SGE2000(I have also tried port 48 to port 24) and the switches are restarting all the time and the stack doesnt work.

I tried to set up the stack manualy - SGE2010P has Stack ID1 and SGE2000 Stack ID3 and it is still rebooting.

In users guide is written that the switches have to have the same version of SW. But there is no posibility to have the same version. How can i do the stack?

As you correctly indicated, the SGE2000 needs to have the correct firmware version for the stacking to work. Because the upgrade for this specific switch going to the version you need is somewhat tricky, my suggestion is that you call the Support organization who can help you through with this upgrade. Ivor, I have exactly the same problem as David.  Given you can't actually upgrade the software revisions to the same image (as they both only have one software revision anyway and neither numbering conventions align between the two models), am I to take it that this requires an upgrade of the boot image?  If so, how do we go about that?!

Upgrading the firmware of the SxE2000 to what is needed for cross-stacking with the SxE2010 switches is done through an upgrade utility which is not freely available. The Support organization has access to this utility which is why I recommended you open a case and they will work with you to get your units upgraded.

Can you please confirm whether the current firmware available to Cisco partners (3.0.0.18) supports stacking between SGE2000 and SGE2010 switches?

I need to confirm this before making a recommendation to a customer.

Yes, this firmware supports mixing 24 and 48 port units in the same stack, so SGE2000 and SGE2010 can be stacked together.
